Nothing stops Eileen! Even when her usual indoor fundraising activities were restricted due to members having to self-isolate during the pandemic, she found ways of raising money for the BHF from a stall at her local market and car boot sales. She’s now a regular at the weekly market and enjoys people coming up to her for a chat and sharing their experiences with heart conditions. Eileen says “When I start something I like to carry it on. People have been so friendly, generous and supportive. I enjoy doing it.”
Eileen has personal connection to the cause as her mum had a pacemaker fitted and her husband survived a heart attack around 26 years ago. She feels really proud when she sees booklets produced by the BHF being handed out at her hospital and researchers telling her on visits to labs in Manchester that they could not do their work without the money raised by our volunteers and supporters.
Donna Stokes, Fundraising Manager for North Wales said: "I'm not sure Eileen realises how amazing she is. Her group has raised nearly £5,000 this financial year from street collections, coffee mornings, collecting cans, car boots and market stalls. To continue raising this much after 50 years with her commitment and dedication is extraordinary. I'm so proud of her and can't thank her enough for everything she has done."
