Ann started her volunteering journey with the BHF the day she retired on her 60th birthday in April 2008. Since then, she has been out nearly every weekend holding numerous bucket collections in local pubs and football clubs in Greater Manchester and Cheshire.
From her dedication, the total raised so far has now hit a huge £345,000!
The motivation behind all her hard work was sadly due to her losing five siblings in the space of nine years, all under the age of 60, to heart and circulatory conditions. While she has four brothers who are still with us, one brother, aged 57, is currently waiting for a heart transplant after having a heart attack in his twenties.
Ann is very passionate about supporting the BHF, and is incredibly grateful for all the amazing work that goes into lifesaving research. Ann says “I love doing it. It keeps me fit, young and in touch with reality!”
Cheshire and Greater Manchester Fundraising Manager, Leah Wood, thanks Ann for all her support over the years, “I am beyond proud to work with Ann. She is an absolute credit to the British Heart Foundation, and we simply couldn’t do what we do without amazing volunteers and supporters like Ann. She is out collecting every single weekend without fail. Her commitment and motivation blow me away every single Monday when she messages me her ‘totals’ for the weekend! Thank you for everything Ann.”
