England stores temporarily closing for four weeks

Our network of 616 shops and stores in England will be temporarily closed from 3pm on Wednesday 4 November, but you can still shop with us online.
BHF Shop
Following the UK Government’s decision to introduce a temporary lockdown our shops will remain closed until Thursday 3 December.

We are closely monitoring the guidance in the devolved nations. Currently, our Wales shops are closed until Monday 9 November and our shops in Scotland and Northern Ireland remain open with safety measures in place.

Our online stores will be operating as usual, helping us to continue raising vital funds for research into heart and circulatory diseases. You can also support us by posting your smaller, quality items such as branded clothing, jewellery, vinyl records and cameras. Simply post items via our freepost donation service while visiting any Collect+ point for essential shopping purposes.

Our Retail Director, Allison Swaine-Hughes, said: “In line with the latest Government announcement, we will be closing our shops in England from Thursday for four weeks. Our Scotland and Northern Ireland shops will remain open, with safety measures in place.

“We have already temporarily stopped our collection service and would ask people not to leave donations outside of our shops. If you would like to donate smaller items, we would be grateful to receive them via our freepost donation service. We ask those with larger items to kindly hold onto them until we have reopened.

“Our eBay store will remain open, offering a range of quality preloved items, while our online shop is the ideal place to find Christmas cards, accessories and gifts for the festive season.

“We would like to thank our dedicated staff, volunteers and customers for their ongoing support and look forward to welcoming you back soon. Every item we sell helps raise vital funds to support the 7.4 million people in the UK living with heart and circulatory diseases. We need the public’s support more than ever to continue this vital work.”

Questions about shopping with us

What will happen if I’ve booked a collection, or plan to book a collection?

We are now unable to collect any items but would ask that if possible, donors keep hold of anything they wish to donate until our collection service resumes. Once back up and running we will be hugely grateful to receive them. If you have arranged a collection we will be in touch to rearrange.

What about deliveries?

We will be working swiftly this week to complete deliveries before Thursday, however, where this is not possible, we will contact customers to rearrange for a later date.

Can I still shop online?

The Covid-19 crisis has had a devastating impact on the BHF’s income, cutting our research funding in half and putting future life saving discoveries at risk. We are urgently appealing for your continued support during this period by shopping with us online. We will be offering an extended range of brand new Christmas cards via our online shop while our eBay store is a great place to find high quality pieces, from antique jewellery to one of a kind gifts.

You can also check out our recently launched Depop shop, with hundreds of preloved items added to the site each day including clothes from popular brands at bargain prices. Every item sold will help fund our vital heart research.

What about shops in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland?

In line with the Welsh fire break, our 34 shops and stores in Wales are currently closed until Monday 9 November. Our shops in Scotland and Northern Ireland remain open with safety measures in place.

What if I need a refund?

You can contact our Customer Service Centre who will be happy to help support with any refund requests. We’ve also extended our in-house returns policy to allow returns after 30 days. You can find out more here.

Can I still donate items?

Yes, we would still be thrilled to receive your good quality, smaller donated items via our freepost donation service. Simply post items via our freepost donation service while visiting any Collect+ point for essential shopping purposes.

What if I've made an order on the website?

We’d like to reassure our customers that any orders already placed with us will be fulfilled within the usual delivery time frames, this includes our medical devices and defibrillators. If you have a query regarding a purchase or collection of donations from one of our shops or stores please take a look on our dedicated customer service page for more information.
