James Bravery
James, 7, was born with 3 holes in his heart and a bicuspid aortic valve. Despite experiencing chest pain, tiredness, and shortness of breath, James is determined to live life to the fullest.
Orla Wray
Orla is living with double-outlet left ventricle (DOLV), a rare congenital heart condition. She has been a vital part of Alder Hey’s innovative Little Hearts at Home digital monitoring programme – a platform designed to support families of children with complex heart needs. Now, as Alder Hey and BHF begin developing the next phase, The Parental Portal, Orla and her family will play a key role in shaping its future through active involvement in focus groups. This type of input ensures this technology truly meets the needs of families.

Recognises those who have shown incredible courage and bravery by attempting to save a person's life from cardiac arrest through CPR.
Find out about each of our 2025 lifesavers:
Hannah and Polly Cooke
Hannah was woken by the barking of her golden retriever, Polly, who was alerting her that her husband Adam was having a heart attack. Hannah immediately called 999 and performed lifesaving CPR until the ambulance arrived.
Andy Palmer
After having a sudden cardiac arrest while working at PureGym, Andy would then perform lifesaving CPR and defibrillation to a fellow gym member just 18 months later, in a remarkable twist of fate.
Jim Stuart-Young
Gemma’s life was saved by her husband Jim after she had a cardiac arrest during a family skiing holiday in Austria. Thanks to Jim’s CPR training through his work, he immediately recognised the emergency and performed CPR for around 20 minutes until paramedics arrived from Innsbruck Hospital.
Recognises individuals or groups who have made an outstanding contribution to improving lifesaving skills within their community.
Winner: John Deery
Honours the contributions of individuals, groups, or organisations who have made a lasting, meaningful difference to those affected by cardiovascular disease.
