Tim Knight, Tim Fairley and David Kennedy

Tim Knight, Tim Fairley and David Kennedy cycled 1600km from Hollingworth Lake near their homes in Greater Manchester to Italy’s Lake Garda, in memory of their dear friend, Simon ‘Teddy’ Taylor to raise funds for BHF and their local hospice.

Teddy, died aged 56 in 2023 after having a heart attack at home. His wife Lisa called 999 and tried to resuscitate him through CPR, but sadly he passed away in the ambulance - leaving Lisa and their young son.   The friends’ 10-day ‘Lake to Lake Challenge’ in May 2024 involved some gruelling mountain passes, cycling more than 100 miles per day. They not only conquered the Alps and paid tribute to their much-loved friend – they raised more than £100,000.

Then, in March this year they raised a further £54,000 for both charities through a charity ball.  And they’re not finished yet. Next year, they plan to cycle to the Arctic.
