Young Heart Hero

Celebrate young fundraisers, advocates and heart patients aged 11 and under who have done amazing things in support of BHF’s lifesaving work.
Nominations for this year's event are now closed.

Who can I nominate?

Young Heart Heroes must be aged 11 or under at the time of nominating and be at least one of the following:

  • A heart patient diagnosed or born with a heart or circulatory condition.
  • A fundraiser for BHF and our lifesaving research.
  • An advocate for BHF who raises awareness of heart and circulatory diseases within their school and local or wider community.

Do you know a child who would like to be a Young Heart Hero and have a chance to celebrate this at the Young Heart Hero Awards? If you know a child or group of children (age 11 and under) who would like to fundraise for BHF, we would love to hear about them as they could be eligible for a nomination.

Your Young Heart Hero could be an individual, a primary school class, a kids club or community group who do amazing things for BHF's lifesaving work.

We reserve the right to close our Young Heart Hero category at any time.

Nominations for this year’s Young Heart Hero Awards are now closed.

What happens after I submit a nomination?

Your nomination

All submitted nominations will undergo a review process and our judging panel reserves the right to consider your nominee for an alternative category. Due to the volume of nominations we receive each year, this process can take a few months.

You may not hear back from us for a little while, but don’t worry – we will be in touch about your Young Heart Hero nomination.

Heart Hero Awards ceremony

Our Young Heart Hero Awards ceremony will take place in September in London.

Every year, we receive dozens of Young Heart Hero nominations and we would love to invite everyone. However, due to limited spaces we may not able to invite all our Young Heart Heroes to the ceremony.

During the awards, we will give some honourable mentions to those who have shone in the categories of 'bravery' or 'fundraising'.

We will therefore hold a reserve list for the ceremony, which will allow us to offer spaces to nominees as they become available.

Winners and acknowledgements

All Young Heart Hero nominees, who are eligible for an award following the above criteria, will not be judged and will automatically qualify as a winner.

Each eligible Young Heart Hero will receive a special acknowledgement from BHF in recognition for their amazing achievement.

Parents or guardians of eligible winners will be encouraged to share their Young Heart Hero’s award publicly and may be contacted with the option to feature in BHF promotional activity (including media, etc).
