Running group meetings

Productive meetings are key to a group's success. We have a few top tips to help your meetings run smoothly.

Running group meetings will help to make sure your fundraising group is effective. Meetings helps you stay focused on your goals and keep a track of our progress. 

We've put together easy to follow guidance on what should happen before, during and after your meeting.

Before the meeting

  • We suggest meeting once a month to begin with. This will help everyone get to know each other and ensure your plans are on track.
  • Prepare an agenda and share it in advance. This helps you to cover key items and give enough time for discussion.
  • Appoint someone to take notes to be circulated after the meeting.

During the meeting

  • The group leader should facilitate the meeting. They'll be responsible for keeping your meeting focused, and make sure important decisions are made.
  • Keep an eye on the time and your agenda to ensure you have covered everything you need.
  • Make sure to create an environment where all group members feel comfortable contributing.
  • Take a note of key items discussed and any agreed actions.

After the meeting

  • Thank members for attending.
  • Share the notes taken with everyone who attended.
