The BHF is working together with the Royal Society to make it easier for talented and promising researchers from outside the UK to join our cardiovascular research community.
Successful recipients of some BHF awards are eligible for accelerated endorsement under the Home Office Global Talent visa route, which replaced the Tier 1 (Exceptional Talent) visa on 20 February 2020. This visa route makes it easier for talented and promising individuals in the fields of science, medicine, engineering, social sciences and humanities to come to live and work in the UK.
The following BHF awards are eligible for accelerated endorsement:
- BHF Personal Chair
- Advanced Training Award
- Career Re-Entry Research Fellowship
- Clinical Research Training Fellowship
- Immediate Postdoctoral Basic Science Research Fellowship
- Intermediate Basic Science Research Fellowship
- Intermediate Clinical Research Fellowship
- Senior Basic Science Research Fellowship
- Senior Clinical Research Fellowship
The Global Talent Visa fast-track route is open to new, existing and some previous holders of the above awards. Current Tier 1 or Tier 2 visa holders can also apply to switch to the new Global Talent Visa.
Applying for this type of visa is a two-stage process. You will need to:
- Apply to the Home Office for endorsement as a leader or an emerging leader in your field, by providing a copy of one of the above award letters.
- Apply for the visa.
We recommend that you arrange your visa in plenty of time before the start date of your award. Further details can be found from Gov.UK and the Royal Society.
