University students are scoffing over 1.1 million bars of chocolate a term with KitKats topping the chocolate charts according to our new chocolate league table ahead of DECHOX this March

We've surveyed the Top 100 universities in the UK to find out how many chocolate bars were sold on campus between September and December last year to see which students are the biggest chocoholics.

The results showed:
  • University students are scoffing over 1.1 million bars of chocolate a term
  • KitKats were a clear favourite with 78,958 being sold on university campuses over a four month period
  • Northumbria University took first place in our chocoholic league table eating a whopping 82,355 chocolate bars

Tracy Parker, BHF Heart Health Dietitian, said: “It seems from these statistics that thousands of students across the country are guilty of having a bit of a sweet tooth. By joining thousands of people and signing up to DECHOX you’ll have a great support network around you to kick that chocolate habit.  Dump the chunk for one month whilst helping us fund vital research to help the 7 million people living with heart and circulatory disease in the UK.”

Time for a DECHOX?

Last year, more than 19,000 people took part in DECHOX, raising almost £800,000 in the fight against heart disease. The BHF is calling on even more of you to sign up to help us raise £1million this year.
