Based in Birmingham, Heart of Birmingham Asian Business Board is a group of business leaders who are raising vital funds in support of BHF’s lifesaving research.
About the board
The Heart of Birmingham Asian Business Board (ABB), a pioneering initiative, brings together corporate organisations, associates, and community members who share a deep connection with the South Asian community.
Heart of Birmingham ABB's mission is to:
- drive awareness
- support groundbreaking research
- funding life-saving treatments through high-profile fundraising events tailored to the South Asian community.
Closing the gap
Health inequalities disproportionately affect people of South Asian heritage, who face approximately a 50% higher risk of coronary heart disease compared to the wider population. BHF is committed to tackling this critical issue head-on.
Meet the board members
Founder and National Chair: Amina Hussain

Amina is a multi award wining accountant and tax advisor with 26 years' experience in accountancy, taxation, insolvency and forensic accounting. She is also the founder and owner of SME Outsourcing.
Amina previously served as Co‑President of the Asian Business Chamber of Commerce, and currently sits on the board as Vice President of the Greater Birmingham Global Chamber of Commerce. She is also a Governor at University College Birmingham
Amina’s passion for BHF is driven is by a rare multiple complex heart defects her son was born with. Amina’s daughter has also been influenced by the experience, and is considering a career specialising in cardiovascular health.
Amina says: "My vision is to bring business leaders together, on a national level, to help raise a significant sum, in support of heart health research and awareness, among the South Asian community."

Harmesh is a qualified Commercial Finance Specialist with New Leaf Distribution nationally, and locally with SME Financial Services.

Sartaj is Director and Head of Tax Investigation at Housman Consulting Ltd, and served on the BHF ABB Executive Committee in 2025.
Mabs Ali works in the financial sector and has over 20 years’ experience.

Trina is an Employability and Work-Related Manager at Joseph Chamberlain Sixth Form College (graded by Ofsted as "Outstanding" and "Strong"). She is also an Executive Committee Member of the Arab British Chamber of Commerce, and winner of the Multicultural Business and Community Champion Award.
Trina has worked in education for over 10 years. She believes that early education can prevent future health issues, and wants to support and spread that knowledge, doing so across education providers.

Hemant is Vice President of Sales at Regal Ware Inc, a cookware manufacturer, and UK Managing Director of ActivePure, a company that develops and supplies air and surface purification technology.
He is a strategic leader with a proven track record of delivering measurable global impact, championing strong governance, and leading organisations to achieve triple digit growth.

Mahmudur Jaigirdar is Head of Training at SME Outsourcing Ltd and has over 30 years’ experience in the training field. He was the first person to introduce NVQs into the manufacturing sector, and delivered the first translated NVQs in the UK.
Mahmudur was honoured to meet Her Majesty The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh in recognition of his contribution to education in the UK.

Kamran is the Head of Marketing at Morgan Reach Business Group and an award-winning private business coach. Since 2005, he has scaled and exited multiple ventures, earning National Entrepreneur and Chamber Business of the Year accolades.
Kamran brings experience as a Special Constable, alongside work with HM Courts & Tribunals Service, and a community property portfolio exceeding £100m GDV. Through this experience, he combines a commitment to public service with 2 decades of commercial expertise to drive BHF’s strategic mission.

Simon Caulton brings over 30 years of experience delivering operational excellence across a wide range of sectors.
Throughout his career, Simon has led teams, scaled businesses, and driven sustainable performance through strong leadership and clear processes.
Alongside his professional work, Simon is a passionate advocate for men’s mental health, regularly speaking to raise awareness and support positive change. He has also been a proud charity ambassador for a number of charities.

Jagruti Duggal is an entrepreneur and the CEO of 1Nation Media. She specialises in artist and event management, with expertise in delivering a small to large indoor and outdoor events, as well as corporate marketing.
In addition to this, Jagruti is an on screen presenter and stage host. She also offers creative leadership as a beauty, hair and make up consultant, as well as a script writer and director.
My vision is to bring business leaders together on a national level, to help raise a significant sum, to help support heart health research and awareness amongst the South Asian Community. I hope you will join me in supporting this incredibly worthwhile cause.
