Fundraising tips
Once you have a fundraising idea in mind, you'll need to start planning. Our tips will help plan your fundraising effectively.
Fundraising top tips
- Keep your events simple. That way, you can spend more time making them a success.
- Decide on a fundraising target and work backwards. Break down how you'll reach your target with a thought out plan.
- Start planning your event well in advance. This will give you enough time to organise everything you may need.
- Make sure your budget includes everything you'll need. Consider the cost of the venue, entertainment, refreshments, fees and licences. Plan in advance how you will cover your costs.
- Try and work to a 4:1 return on investment as a guiding rule. This means for every £1 you invest, you should aim to get £4 back.
- Know your audience and tailor your events to them.
- Draw on your networks to see if you can get people to help for free. For example, if you know a local band, quizmaster, or DJ you can ask them to help.
- See if any events in your local community will fundraise for you. A local quiz night or karaoke event may be willing to put on a fundraiser for you.
