How to increase your fundraising

Discover ways to maximise your fundraising efforts. From setting up an online fundraising page and boosting your donation value for free, to engaging local businesses and getting creative with your activities.

Set up an online fundraising page

Creating a JustGiving fundraising page is a fantastic way to bring your fundraiser to life. It’s one of the best ways to share your story and connect with supporters. By adding photos, videos and setting a fundraising target, you’ll inspire more donations.

We have a guide to help you create your page and tips to make it shine.

Boost the value of your donations for free

There are a couple of ways to get more money from the donations you receive, without having to spend or ask for more.

Gift Aid your donation

If you or your supporters are UK taxpayers, you can add Gift Aid to your donations. By doing so, the government will add 25% to the amount at no extra cost to you or them. Find out more about how to add Gift Aid to your donation.

Ask your employer to match donations

Many companies offer Matched Giving schemes (also known as “Matched Funding”). This means that a company matches the amount of money an employee raises for a charity. Sometimes they may even double the amount of money you raise, so it’s a good idea to ask your employer about this.

Boost your main event with creative activities

If your fundraising is mainly around a single event, consider including additional money-making activities on the day. You can do things like:

Reach out to local businesses

Ask local businesses if they’re willing to help. They may be able to sponsor you in exchange for you promoting them at your event. For example, by putting their logo on your fundraising page or event programme if you have one.

A sponsor may be able to support you with the costs of running your event, so that more money from ticket sales goes to charity. They may also be able to give money for every mile completed as part of your challenge, or donate prizes that you can raffle to raise money.

Make payday count

Payday is usually at the end of the month. This is a good time to announce updates about your fundraiser, like a milestone you've reached. Or a video showing your latest achievements. It’s also a good time to send a gentle donation reminder.
