Take on the 8 Peaks Challenge

When: 1 September 2018

Where: Lake District

Take on 3, 5 or 8 of the Lake's most famous peaks including the highest mountain in England - Scafell Pike (978m). You'll trek through the heart of some of the most majestic scenery in the country, pushing yourself to your limits.

This challenge is not for the faint hearted, and the terrain is extremely varied and involves some very steep ascents and descents. With that said, all of our 2017 participants completed 8 peaks, so we know you can do it too! Our BHF event staff will be there with you, every step of the way, to make sure you have an amazing experience. Your incredible efforts will be rewarded at the end of the trek with a hot meal and a drink at the famous Sticklebarn.

Event itinerary

We will start the morning off with registration and a hearty breakfast, followed by a health and safety briefing before we start the trek at 7.30am. We will be covering 14 miles of undulating mountainous terrain, in a remote area of the Lake District. Together we will ascend over 1600m in a single day. That’s more ascent than Ben Nevis, the UK’s highest mountain!

Summiting 8 of the highest peaks in the lake District, Rossett Pike (651m), Allen Crags (784m), Ill Crag (930m), Broad Crag (934m), Scafell Pike (978m), Great End (907m), Esk Pike (885m), and Bowfell (903m). Don't worry if you can't manage all 8 Peaks, we will have different groups depending on your fitness level.

After completing the peaks, we will begin our descend back down to the Sticklebarn for a celebratory hot meal. This is a great time to reflect on the day, socialise with your group and take in the last bit of scenery.
