Changes to our printed booklets

Looking for a printed booklet and cannot find it? In 2024 and 2025 we updated a lot of our printed booklets. What you’re looking for may have been added to another booklet or look different than you remember.

Which booklets have changed?

Healthy living and risk factor booklets

Our taking control of booklets, like Taking control of salt, have been replaced by one pocket-sized booklet called Understanding your heart health.

Feedback from people affected by cardiovascular disease showed that people often had more than one risk factor and were given multiple booklets. This could be overwhelming and put people off using the information.

For example, our old healthy living booklets:

Resources for GPs - taking control series covers

Are now available in one handy, pocket-sized version called Understanding your heart health:

We’ve also updated our popular Eat better booklet with more detailed information and helpful tips on healthy eating.

Heart conditions and treatments

Our heart condition and treatment booklets are an important part of our print offer. But they needed updating to ensure they were accurate and engaging.

Working with our clinical experts, healthcare professionals and people affected by cardiovascular disease we identified key topics, refreshed the look and feel and updated the content.

For example, our old condition booklets:

Selection of the most popular publications
Are now available in a bright, engaging colours with imagery that’s been chosen by people affected by cardiovascular disease:

If you cannot find what you’re looking for in a booklet, we have a wider range of topics across our website.

More accessible content

By updating our printed booklets, we were also able to print them in more accessible formats. We now have a range of our booklets available in large print, braille and easy read.

Why did we change it?

We want our information to be as clear, user friendly and reliable as possible. While also being led by the people who matter most.

Working alongside people affected by cardiovascular disease and healthcare professionals we have developed new booklets that are modern, engaging and cover the topics and questions on people’s minds.

Some of our information was duplicated, making it harder for people to find the information they need. We also wanted to refresh the look and feel, encouraging people to engage with their health.
