Show Your Heart this Heart Month

Football fans across the UK are being encouraged to learn lifesaving CPR this February, as we join with Sky Bet to launch Show Your Heart - a monthlong Heart Month activation supporting our Every Minute Matters campaign.

The campaign aims to help us reach our milestone of encouraging 500,000 people to learn lifesaving CPR through RevivR, our free digital training tool that teaches CPR in just 15 minutes using a mobile phone and an everyday item like a cushion.

Tom Lockyer, who successfully recovered from his on-pitch cardiac arrest suffered while playing for Luton Town in the Premier League in 2023, invited Wrexham fan Maurice Jones down to Bristol Rovers training ground to hear his story first-hand. The two cardiac arrest survivors are keen to use their experience and unique personal stories to inspire football fans across the UK to learn CPR.

Survival stories

Tom said: Maurice’s story is incredibly moving and the fact that he is still here is testament to the immediate intervention of the first responders. One of the most powerful things that you can do – for your friends, family and fellow fans – is to show your heart and learn CPR this heart month. That’s why, we are on a mission to build an army of lifesavers, fans that can step up and perform CPR, because when every minute matters, that knowledge can save a life. The BHF’s RevivR tool takes just 15 minutes – and it’s free and easy to use.”

Every Minute Matters

To highlight why every minute matters during a cardiac arrest, all EFL fixtures between 5–9 February kicked off one minute later than scheduled over the weekend of 5-9th February. This powerful moment encouraged fans in stadiums and at home to take a few minutes to learn CPR and potentially save a life.

Former professional footballer and broadcaster Micah Richards, alongside figures including Jermain Defoe and Glenn Hoddle are backing the campaign to raise awareness of CPR and cardiac arrest survival.

Every goal saves lives

Throughout Heart Month, Sky Bet will donate £1,000 for every goal scored across the EFL. Funds raised will support our vital research into heart and circulatory diseases and help save more lives in communities across the UK.
