Celebrity DJs and health entrepreneurs Alana and Lisa Macfarlane, aka the Mac Twins, are on a road trip around the north of Scotland to raise funds for us, in memory of their dad Kenny, who died 10 years ago following a heart attack.

It was always Kenny’s dream to tour in a VW Campervan after his retirement so the twins, who are also BHF ambassadors, have packed up their bags and children to take to the road in his honour and hope to raise £5,000.
Kenny, 58, from Edinburgh, sadly passed away on the golf course just two days after he handed in his notice to retire. The twins were just 25 at the time and their careers had started to take off, but proud dad Kenny never saw them marry or have children.
Alana said: “The worst thing that can possibly happen to us, happened. That continuous grief is really hard to deal with and it is the reason we work with the BHF so much and why we’re so passionate about it. We don’t want other people to go through what we went through.
“In honour of our dad we are taking on this unique challenge to raise as much money as we can for the British Heart Foundation.”
The twins set off on Saturday and are currently braving wild weather and hairpin bends on the North Coast 500, the iconic route around the north of Scotland.
If that wasn’t brave enough, they have brought along Lisa’s one-year-old son, Bear and Alana’s three-year-old daughter Ari, for the ride.
“We’re doing this for dad, we’ll be playing his favourite tunes, and making memories along the way,” says Lisa.
Every three minutes in the UK someone loses a loved one to a heart or circulatory disease and more than half of us will get a heart or circulatory condition in our lifetime.
