British Heart Foundation scoops top prizes at charity awards

British Heart Foundation has walked away with two top prizes at the 25th annual Charity Times Awards.

The awards night celebrates and recognises the very best in UK charities, recognising best practice, honouring great people working in the sector, and promoting and raising the profile of UK charities.

With fierce competition from sector leaders, we were crowned winner in two categories: Best Use of Technology and Change Project of the Year.

Best Use of Technology: BHF’s RevivR tool

Every year, there are more than 30,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests in the UK, with less than 1 in 10 people surviving.

RevivR is our free, interactive, online CPR training tool. In just 15 minutes, people can learn how to save a life, with just a mobile phone and a cushion.  To date, over 141,000 people have completed CPR training with RevivR – and 20,000 alone during Heart Month in February 2024.

Change Project of the Year

Our Technology Transformation has changed the way in which people across the charity can leverage technology and data to better achieve our mission

Organising our technology teams to be more customer focused has enabled them to better support and improve our day-to-day business operations, and partner with the business on key strategies, including paving the way for cutting edge technologies.

This transformation has helped achieve our technology vision of “delivering exceptional customer experience, making it easier to grow our income and deliver the BHF's mission.”

Never more needed

Rob Way, our Director of Technology Strategy, Planning & Architecture, said: “The role of technology in UK charities is only increasing, and BHF has never been more needed. As we look to deliver the best customer service and drive income to support BHF’s lifesaving research, these awards are a testament to the hard work of so many colleagues, and it’s great to see this acknowledged.”
