Volunteers needed for our famous London to Brighton Bike Ride

Are you from London or Brighton or their surrounding areas?

We are looking for volunteers from the London and Brighton areas to help the running of our iconic London to Brighton Bike Ride on 16th June 2024.

Each year, over 12,000 cyclists take on the stunning route from Clapham Common through the Surrey and Sussex countryside to finish on the Brighton seafront. This event brings in around £2 million each year and thus far has contributed to over £50 million of research into lifesaving treatments and cures for the 7.6 million people in the UK currently living with heart and circulatory conditions.

The help and goodwill of volunteers is invaluable to us here at the BHF. From passing out bottles of water in London, to adorning finishers with their medals by the sea in Brighton, there are a selection of roles to be filled by volunteers.

Lynnette’s volunteering story

Lynnette Whittingham, a nurse from Kent, volunteers at the London to Brighton Bike Ride as her way of giving back to us after her husband had a heart attack in 2008. Fortunately, he survived and has since taken part in the bike ride himself.

On volunteering, Lynnette said: “Volunteering at the London to Brighton Bike Ride last year was amazing, heartwarming, inspirational and hugely moving. I really felt part of a team and there was a sense of togetherness and thrill. Every part of it was magical.

“My husband is a heart attack survivor and I got to give him his medal at the end which was a real tear-jerker! The care he received was outstanding and I know we have the BHF to thank. I can’t wait to volunteer again this year and be part of camaraderie.”
