BHF publishes interim equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) report

To mark one year of progress since the launch of the BHF’s first equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) strategy, we have published a new interim report: Igniting Change, One Year On.

Igniting Change, One Year On holds us to account on the commitments we made last year as we strive towards building a more inclusive BHF and tackling the growing inequalities around cardiovascular health.

Chief Executive of the BHF Dr Charmaine Griffiths said: “Making the world a fairer place is bigger than the BHF alone, but we are proud to play our part – working across the UK’s four nations to tackle inequalities in cardiovascular health, improve the diversity of our research workforce, and make BHF a more inclusive place to work.

One year on, it’s important to me that we openly share our progress, and our challenges as well. We have so much to be proud of, and as we look to the year ahead, we have a clearer picture of who we are, the data to help us make better decisions, and a plan to make the changes we need to, so that we can ignite lasting change.”

We had high hopes for Year 1, and we are pleased at the progress we’ve made so far.

There is still so much work to be done, but we’re committed to making a difference in the EDI space. We don't have all the answers yet, but we will continue sharing our successes, failures, and learnings to evolve our strategy and actions as we go.
