Iconic Harry Enfield suit open for bids on eBay

An iconic suit worn by comedian Harry Enfield has been donated to us and is now open for bids on our eBay site.

Enfield, known for his shows including Harry Enfield and Chums, personally donated the suit to his local BHF shop in London and it will now be sold to help us fund lifesaving research.

The comedian wore the two-piece suit, emblazoned with pictures of former London Mayor Ken Livingstone, to the London launch of his film Kevin and Perry Go Large in 2000.

Enfield said: “I had the suit made for the premier of Kevin & Perry go Large because it was the same day of the London Mayor elections, and I thought I’d get the front page of the Evening Standard the next day, which would be good free publicity for the film!

"I was right and I did get the front of at least the first edition of the Standard. I’m now too large to wear it to refined parties anymore, or audiences with the King. Thus, it had to go.”

The suit will be listed until Sunday 26 February.

The British Heart Foundation is the largest charity eBay retailer in the world.

Richard Pallier, our head of retail online, said: “It’s not every day a comedy legend walks into one of your shops to drop off a suit.

"We were so thrilled to receive such a generous donation and have listed it on eBay so fans of Harry, or those fashionably brave enough to pull off such a suit, can have the opportunity to place their winning bids.

“The money raised by the sale of this suit will help the BHF fund ground-breaking research into heart and circulatory diseases. We love receiving unique items, like this suit, and would urge others to think of the BHF when donating pre-loved items.”

The donation comes as we mark Heart Month. Throughout February, we are urging the public to help save lives by ‘going red’ to raise funds and find new treatments and cures for heart and circulatory diseases, which affect 7.6 million people in the UK.

People can support us in any way they can throughout the month, from wearing red clothing, rolling out the red carpet at work or even baking delicious red treats. Supporters who Go Red in February will help fund the breakthroughs of tomorrow.
