BHF shops in Northern Ireland to reopen

Our BHF Northern Ireland shops are gearing up to welcome back customers this Friday (30 April), as lockdown restrictions continue to ease.

From Friday, our seven shops in towns and cities across Northern Ireland will be reopening and will be able to accept donations once again.

Our Head of BHF Northern Ireland Fearghal McKinney said: “We are delighted to get our shops back up and running and we cannot wait to see our loyal customers, staff and volunteers once again for this first time since Christmas.

"The coronavirus crisis has had a seismic impact on the income of the BHF and the last 12 months have been the hardest in our 60-year history. Our shops play a huge role in funding vital research into heart and circulatory diseases and run purely on the support of the public. Every item donated and sold can help us power the £1.8m of research we fund at Queen’s University, Belfast. We can’t wait to get back up and running again.”

We need your help now more than ever

Our shops in England and Wales reopened earlier this month and saw their busiest day ever, recording £1million in sales in a single day. Meanwhile all our shops in Scotland are now open as of last Monday.

As well as raising funds for life saving research, our network of shops across the UK also provide a wider benefit to society.

Last year alone, our shops and stores saved 71,000 tonnes of items from going to waste. That includes around 200,000 sofas, as well as other furniture, electrical items, books, toys and 14,000 tonnes of clothing.

Customers who’ve taken time during lockdown to declutter are encouraged to pop by and donate their preloved items, which can be dropped off at shop entrance points and there are plenty of bargains and finds for those looking to refresh their homes or update their wardrobes.

As we reopen, our number one priority will be ensuring the safety of everyone who shops, works and volunteers with us. We have also made it easier for people to donate to us either in store, by post or through our free collection service.
