Message from our Chief Executive, Dr Charmaine Griffiths

Dr Charmaine Griffiths, Chief Executive at the British Heart Foundation

Hi all,

Firstly, I hope you are keeping safe and well.

I know this is a very unsettling time for those of you who are living with a heart or circulatory disease or, like me, have loved ones who are. Because of the increased risk of complications from coronavirus, we urge you to take extra care in the coming weeks.

At the British Heart Foundation we want to ensure that everyone who needs it has access to reliable, up-to-date information. You can read comprehensive information and support on the virus - we will keep this constantly updated as we know more about the disease and its impact.

As is sadly inevitable, our retail and fundraising activity has been impacted by coronavirus. In order to protect staff, volunteers and customers from the spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus, our shops have temporarily closed. A number of fundraising events, such as our flagship London to Brighton Bike Ride, have also been cancelled. While this is hugely disappointing, many of you have asked how you can continue to support us at this time - the simplest way to do this, and only if you are able, is by making a donation.

The situation has had a huge impact on the way we work, but our amazing BHF team is working hard from living rooms and kitchen tables across the country to ensure that we protect our life saving work, and that when this crisis subsides, the BHF will be in the best place possible to continue in our mission.

Your support for our life saving work is so appreciated, and remains at the heart of our efforts to beat heartbreak forever.

Best wishes,
Dr Charmaine Griffiths
Chief Executive
