Our charity shops in England are now open

Our shops and stores across England are now open following the temporary lockdown. 

Allison Swaine-Hughes, Retail Director at the British Heart Foundation, said: “We are thrilled to get our shops back up and running across England this week and look forward to welcoming our customers, staff and volunteers through the doors. As we reopen, our number one priority will be ensuring the safety of everyone who shops, works and volunteers with us.”

“With only a few weeks to go before Christmas, we’re urging people to support us by visiting their local shop to pick up Christmas gifts and donate items that we can turn into vital funds. We also offer a wide range of Christmas cards, gifts and decorations in our shops and online, as well as vintage and higher value items on our eBay and Depop stores.

“Every item we sell goes towards life saving research into heart and circulatory diseases and aids our recovery from the devastating impact of this pandemic. Thank you to everyone who has continued to support us during this time.”

Currently, 25 of our 76 shops in Scotland and all eight of our shops in Northern Ireland are closed until mid-December, in keeping with local restrictions. Our shops in Wales remain open with measures in place to keep staff, volunteers and customers safe.  

Charity Shop Challenge

With a different Christmas ahead for many of us, we are calling on people to show their support this festive season by taking on our Charity Shop Challenge and buying at least one preloved gift from the BHF, whether it’s online or in store.

There’s still plenty of time to find something unique. Our shops and online stores have an array of one-of-a-kind treasures waiting to be discovered. You could make someone’s day with a truly personal gift whilst also supporting a great cause.

Bargains also available online

For those who would rather stay at home, why not browse our eBay shop for your Christmas shopping this year. It’s the perfect place to find high quality pieces at affordable prices - from antique jewellery and vintage clothing to retro buys and high value cameras.  

You can also check out our recently launched Depop shop, with hundreds of preloved items added to the site each day for those looking for clothes from popular brands at bargain prices. Or visit our online shop for Christmas cards, gifts and decorations.  

Donations are welcome

Our shops will welcome donations over the coming days and donating couldn’t be easier; simply head to your nearest shop with your unwanted items and drop them off at our in-store donation points.

You can also post your smaller items such as branded clothing, jewellery, vinyl records and cameras, using our freepost donation service. Download your freepost label and head to your nearest Collect+ drop-off point with your unwanted items. Your donations will help us raise much needed funds.

Your support is needed more than ever

The Covid-19 crisis has had a devastating impact on the BHF’s income, cutting our research funding in half and putting future life saving discoveries at risk.
