Potato (aloo) raitha

Raitha is a seasoned yoghurt relish that's a popular and cooling accompaniment to Indian food. This refreshing raitha is very easy to make and works well with most curries and rice dishes

Preparation time: 5 minutes

Cooking time: 15 minutes

  1. Whisk the yoghurt until smooth.
  2. Add the potatoes, black pepper, cumin seeds, onion and half the coriander. Mix well.
  3. Place in a serving dish and decorate the top with the remaining coriander, the roasted, ground cumin, red chilli powder and the green chilli (if using).

300g or 10 1/2oz low-fat natural yoghurt

175g/6oz new potatoes, boiled and cut into small cubes

1/4 teaspoon black pepper, coarsely ground

1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds, roasted

1 small onion, finely chopped

1 tablespoon coriander, finely chopped

1/2 teaspoon roasted cumin, ground

1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder

1/2 teaspoon green chilli, crushed (optional)
