A warm and tasty dessert, perfect for using up leftover fruit

Baked citrus pears and apples

Cooking time: 40 minutes

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C/350°F/gas mark 4.
  2. Place the pear and apple quarters in an ovenproof dish with the cinnamon stick, nutmeg, raisins or sultanas, lemon and orange juice and the zest strips.
  3. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 40 minutes or until the fruit is soft.
  4. Serve warm with the half-fat crème fraiche or low-fat yoghurt, if desired, and serve hot.

2 eating apples, peeled, cored and quartered

1 stick of cinnamon, broken into pieces

Pinch of grated nutmeg

85g (30z) raisins or sultanas

Juice of 1 lemon and pared zest

Juice of 3 oranges and pared zest from 1

Half-fat creme fraiche or low-fat yoghurt (optional, omit if following a vegan or dairy-free diet)
