Kickstart your career and stand out from the crowd with a BHF volunteering role.

University students

Fed up of fast fashion? Hate single plastics? Have a real impact in keeping things out of landfill and volunteer in our British Heart Foundation shops across the UK.

We keep over 100,000 tonnes of stuff out of the ground each year, whilst raising funds that beat heartbreak. Who says you can’t change the world by volunteering once a week?

Or if you're new to your university town and want to get to know the area, get involved with a community fundraising group or be part of the cheering crowd at an event. It's a great way to meet the locals and see the city - all while supporting research that will change the future.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s award (the DofE) is the world’s leading achievement award for young people up to 24 years old who can progress through three levels to achieve a Bronze, Silver or Gold Award.

The BHF is an Approved Activity Provider (AAP) for the volunteering section of the DofE award offering volunteering opportunities to participants from 17 years old in our shops or as a fundraiser raising funds for the BHF. We're also one of the largest Volunteering AAPs and work with over 1000 DofE participants in our charity shops and fundraising each year. Find out more details in our dedicated brochure

Approved Activity Providers are organisations whose activities have been approved by the DofE as meeting volunteering conditions and can count towards the achievement of a DofE Award.

Apprenticeships

For our volunteers who decide a career in retail is for them, there is the opportunity to apply for one of our apprenticeship roles. This means they earn a wage whilst working towards a qualification. To find out more, please visit our jobs website.
