Join as a volunteer and power our lifesaving research

We're all touched by the heartbreak of heart and circulatory diseases. By volunteering with us you're helping us fund research that gets us closer to cures and treatments. Join our volunteer family and help us beat heartbreak forever.

Help us target the world's biggest killers

Research has given us machines that can restart hearts, the ability to fix arteries in tiny babies, the power to give someone a heart they weren’t born with, and so much more.

But heart and circulatory diseases still kill 1 in 4 in the UK, they cause heartbreak on every street. And that’s why our work is as urgent and vital as ever.

Our volunteers help fund our work by giving their time in our shops, at our fundraising events and by fundraising in their local communities.  Whether you have a few hours or days a month to spare we would appreciate your help and your time will make a difference.

We need your help more than ever

During the coronavirus crisis, the BHF has been working tirelessly to support people with heart and circulatory diseases by providing vital information via our dedicated Heart Helpline and our coronavirus hub.

The impact to our income has been devastating and we anticipate that our annual research budget will be cut by £50 million. Now, more than ever, we are in urgent need of public support to enable us to continue our life saving research and help the 7.4 million people in the UK living with heart and circulatory diseases who are at higher risk of complications from Covid-19.

Get inspired

Hear from our inspirational volunteers like Adele who joined her local fundraising group after discovering she had a heart condition aged 26.

I love volunteering because I believe in the BHF, it's great fun and it's a part of my self-care. It makes me feel good.
Adele Ryan, Heart patient and fundraising volunteer

Similar to Adele, many of our volunteers have their own experiences of heart and circulatory diseases.

Matthew and Patricia are helping us to beat heart and circulatory disease by volunteering as a family. After Patricia lost her husband to a heart attack when Matthew was just eight years old, the family want to help raise funds for research into genetic links to help reduce the spread through the generations. Patricia has also been affected by heart disease herself, having had life saving heart surgery as an 11 year old child.
