Improve your wellbeing

In late 2019 we published our Gift of Time report which revealed that volunteering can have a positive impact on wellbeing, with an incredible 7 in 10 volunteers saying that their charitable actions were beneficial for their mental health.

  • Four in five (83%) BHF volunteers agreed that volunteering had contributed to their overall happiness. 
  • Two in five BHF volunteers said volunteering has improved their physical health.

Volunteering changes lives

Over half (52%) of our Gift of Time survey respondents say volunteering has helped them overcome loneliness, with 64% of 25-34s agreeing.

Beat loneliness and isolation 

The recent Covid-19 lockdown and social distancing measures have exacerbated these feelings for many people.

From young parents to empty nesters, job seekers to retirees, volunteering is a great option for anyone wanting to meet new people in their area and overcome loneliness. It can also create a supportive network within your neighbourhood, making it a safer and more familiar place to live.  Whether you have a few hours or days a month to spare we would appreciate your help and your time will make a difference.
