The power of your story

If you have a personal story about a heart or circulatory condition that you’d like to share, we want to hear from you. We often use real stories as part of our fundraising and campaigns to show the impact and need for lifesaving research.

We can help you to share your story in:

  • our fundraising materials and campaigns
  • on the BHF website, Heart Matters Magazine and Ticker Tapes podcast
  • with the media and on our social media channels
  • as part of our parliamentary campaigns.

As a story volunteer, we’ll work with you to ensure your story is told authentically and we'll always ask for consent before sharing it with the public.

Why share your story with us?

By sharing your story with us, you’ll be helping to:

  • inspire others to raise money for lifesaving research
  • raise public awareness about heart and circulatory conditions
  • show others with heart or circulatory conditions they are not alone
  • influence policymakers to create lasting change.

What your support means

By sharing your story, you’re inspiring others to raise money for lifesaving research. Here are just a few of the ways donations help:

  • £100m funded in lifesaving research annually.
  • 703 BHF-funded research projects underway in the UK.
  • 1,262 research staff funded across 49 UK institutions.
I had this story that had fallen into my lap and I had to do something with it. It seemed to me the more positive aspects of what happened to me might be encouraging to others.
