Lloyds Banking Group’s commitment to public health and safety

Lloyds Banking Group’s decision to register their defibrillators on The Circuit, along with their unlocked cabinet pilot stems from their commitment to public health and safety, and reflects the group’s broader values around community support and inclusive access.

Since the pilot began, there have been out-of-hours deployments of defibrillators, as well as daytime activations.

Every second counts in a cardiac arrest

Kyra Karim, Workplace Inclusion Manager, Lloyds Banking Group explains: “Beyond compliance, this decision was rooted in our desire to create a uniform, accessible solution across all branches.  We recognised that every second counts in a cardiac arrest and requiring a code to unlock a cabinet could introduce critical delays. Unlocked cabinets eliminate this barrier and ensure immediate access for the public and emergency responders.”

The defibrillator pilot was reported as highly effective and received positive feedback from the community.  They are now looking to install more defibrillators in unlocked cabinets across their branch network.

How The Circuit simplified defib management

The Lloyds Banking Group team called out the simplicity and effectiveness of the registration process, with the ability to bulk upload devices using a spreadsheet described as a standout capability. This allowed teams to add key details for multiple units at once, significantly reducing manual effort and avoiding duplication.

The spreadsheet also streamlined the Guardian nomination process, allowing teams to assign responsibility for each defibrillator in advance. Once nominated, Guardians received automated emails confirming their role and prompting them to begin regular status checks and maintenance.

Kyra says, “We receive regular reminder emails from The Circuit, prompting our team to confirm the status of each defibrillator. These reminders are vital—especially as we manage multiple workstreams, as they help ensure that no device is overlooked and that all units remain visible and accessible to emergency services.  We placed them in unlocked cabinets to ensure they are accessible to the public 24/7.

“If you're considering registering your defibrillators on The Circuit, our advice is simple: do it. It ensures your devices are visible to emergency services, which can save lives. The registration process is seamless, especially with the bulk upload spreadsheet, and nominating Guardians early makes ongoing maintenance easy.”
