Paul on working to make St Agnes a safer place
After learning his community in St Agnes had just 10 defibrillators, Parish Councillor and Paramedic Paul worked with local people and organisations to boost coverage.

In 2023, after finding only 10 known defibrillators in his community, Parish Councillor Paul Kimberley undertook a project to increase coverage. He gathered information on defibrillator locations and sought grants to ensure there were defibrillators across the parish, including in schools and community hotspots.
As a paramedic, Paul knew the importance of having local and identifiable defibrillators in the area. He contacted charities to get defibrillators at discounted rates and engaged members of his community to help raise money.
Thanks to the incredible show of support from businesses and individuals in St Agnes, many more defibrillators were bought and registered on The Circuit, ready to save lives. Last year, there was a 75% increase in defibrillator coverage in the St Agnes Parish community, with a plan to install more defibrillators in the near future.
The inspiring work from Paul and his community demonstrates the importance of having not only great coverage, but defibrillators that can be quickly identified and located in an emergency. This is achieved by ensuring every defibrillator is registered on The Circuit and ready to save lives.
In Paul’s words, the ‘wonderful coverage has only been achievable by the enormous generosity and collaboration of fundraisers, organisations and businesses who have kindly supported the project.’
