Your entry fee covers the cost of organising the event, but it's the money you raise that powers our life saving research, so we ask our heart swimmer to set themselves a target of at least £150.
As a special incentive, for those of you who send in at least £150 (excluding gift aid) in sponsorship money by 1st June 2017, you’ll be classed as a star swimmer and will be rewarded with a special swim hat that you can wear with pride during the event.
Please be aware that your swim packs will be sent out no sooner than four weeks prior to the event.
You must be at least 14 years old to take part in Bournemouth Pier to Pier Swim. Under 16's must be accompanied by an adult at all times, and anyone under 18 will need to complete a digital entry form and send it back to us.

The event takes place very near Bournemouth Town Centre and there are plenty of pay and display car parks nearby. Follow the signs as you approach the town, and remember to bring some change with you.

There are plenty of car parks in the town centre, which is near Bournemouth pier. Follow parking signs once you reach the town centre.
By public transport
Bournemouth rail and bus stations are a 20 minute walk away, or just a five minute taxi ride.

Get fit for your Bournemouth Pier to Pier Swim
Swimmers of all abilities are welcome at the Bournemouth Pier to Pier swim, however, we strongly recommend training for this event particularly if you are not familiar with sea swimming. It is quite different from swimming in the local pool.

Make sure you have the right kit
For safety reasons, you'll need to wear the swim hat and wristband we send you, and we recommend wearing a wetsuit (though this isn't compulsory).
Take a look at our recommended kit list for what to wear on the day, and what to bring with you. You'll receive your participant number in the post just before the event.

The Bournemouth Pier to Pier course
Setting off from Bournemouth Pier, you'll swim 1.4 miles parallel to the shore as you make your way to the finish line at Boscombe Pier. Lifeguards will be present in the sea and along the shore at all times, and full First Aid cover will be provided by St. Johns Ambulance.
Changing facilities in the public toilets are available at Bournemouth Pier. There will be a luggage transport service to take your belongings to the finish – One small piece of luggage only please and remember to attach the luggage label provided. There are toilets available at both start and finish locations.
Refreshments can be purchased from the many cafes at Bournemouth and Boscombe Piers. All participants will receive water and a free hot drink once their swim is completed.

Your friends are family are very welcome to join in cheering at the finish line at Boscombe Pier. Ask them to look the part and ramp up the red! We are afraid that dogs are not welcome at this event.
Welcome to the club
New for 2017 is our exclusive 500 club, for those who smash the minimum sponsorship target for an event and go on to raise over £500.
Your fundraising will make a significant difference to the BHF as we continue our fight against heart disease. The BHF currently supports 2,500 healthcare professionals working with people affected by cardiovascular disease, funding over 1,100 research projects to help us reach our ultimate goal – the end of heart disease and to the devastation it causes.
If you have £500 or more (excluding GiftAid) pledged by your supporters on your JustGiving page firstly congratulations you are amazing! You'll now be eligible to join the 500 Club and receive your exclusive BHF jersey
For teams to be eligible there must be at least £500 or more (excluding Gift Aid) pledged per person, along with the names of all eligible entrants showing on the team fundraising page and each individual needs to fill in a separate form in each case to claim the 500 club jersey.
(E.g A team of 4 would need a minimum of £2000 (exc Gift Aid) pledged on their team page)
