

We’re delighted to announce the appointment of Professor Tim Chico as our new Director of Health.
Professor Chico is widely recognised as an outstanding clinician and scientist with extensive clinical experience, who has made significant research contributions, and has an unwavering commitment to improving cardiovascular outcomes for patients and communities across the UK.
His career spans clinical care, academia, and industry across genetics, vascular biology, public health, drug discovery, health data science and research translation.
He is also Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Sheffield, and a consultant cardiologist at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
He was until recently Associate Director of the British Heart Foundation Data Science Centre, where he led the Smartphone and Wearable data theme.
'Expertise, energy, and vision'
Professor Chico joins us at a pivotal moment, as we accelerate efforts to reduce health inequalities, strengthen prevention, and ensure that the latest evidence and innovations reach those affected by heart and circulatory diseases as quickly as possible.
He will play an instrumental role in shaping the implementation of our strategy to help save and improve lives from cardiovascular disease on a scale more ambitious than ever before.
