Omaze-ing £2 million raised for BHF research

The latest Omaze Million Pound House Draw has raised an incredible £2 million for our life saving research.

Kevin Johnson, from East London, was crowned the winner of the latest Omaze Million Pound House Draw.

The 34-year-old construction worker bought his £3,000,000 winning entry for just £50. Kevin and his family are now proud owners of a four-bedroom, Victorian London townhouse in the borough of Islington.

Recalling the moment he found out Kevin said: “When Omaze first called me, I recognised the lady’s voice from the TV adverts, so thought it must be genuine – but I didn’t for one second think we’d won the actual house! When the team arrived at my doorstep to tell me the good news – I was so shocked my knees almost gave way!”

A dream come true

“We’ve always wanted to own our own house one day, so this really is a dream come true for us - we’ll be moving in as soon as we can.

"I won’t need to use any of my carpentry skills on the house as it's absolutely perfect - the kids are going to love it. We’re still pinching ourselves, whatever we decide to do long term, this is going to give us so much security as a family, it's truly life changing for all of us.”

A cause close to the family's heart

Talking about his connection to the charity Kevin said: “My wife’s grandma had heart complications in later life, so we’re really pleased that the draw raised so much money for the British Heart Foundation.”

As well as making Kevin a multi-millionaire the London House Draw also raised £2 million for our lifesaving research – the biggest single raise by Omaze to date.

Our Chief Executive, Dr Charmaine Griffiths, said: "We’re delighted for the Johnson family and are absolutely blown away by the £2 million raised by the Omaze London House Draw. This incredible amount of money will help fund ground-breaking research, which will transform the lives of people living with heart and circulatory diseases in the UK for generations to come.

"At the BHF, we could not do what we do without the incredible support from the public and fantastic partnerships like Omaze. Combined with our first successful partnership, the Omaze community have surpassed all our expectations by raising a tremendous £3 million for the BHF.”

 'Biggest charity raise'

This was the second time we’ve partnered with Omaze. Back in 2021 we were the fundraising platform’s second charity partner with that campaign raising £1,000,000 to fund urgent research into heart and circulatory diseases during the most uncertain of times.

The latest donation brings our total raised by Omaze Million Pound House Draws to an Omaze-ing £3 million.

Three million pounds for life saving research

James Oakes, Chief International Officer at Omaze said: “We’re thrilled that Kevin and his family have won their dream home - and that he was able to contribute towards our biggest charity raise ever. We’re incredibly proud that the Omaze community raised a staggering £2 million for the British Heart Foundation in such a short space of time.”

The money raised by the Omaze partnership will enable us to continue to fund our lifesaving research and support the millions people and their families affected by heart and circulatory diseases across the UK.
