Our annual Heart Hero Awards ceremony celebrates those who have shown remarkable bravery or gone above and beyond to help others while coping with devastating impact of heart and circulatory disease.
Nominate your Heart Heroes
There are multiple categories to choose, from innovative fundraisers who have found new and creative ways of raising funds for our lifesaving research to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the heart community. We are also after nominations for local CPR and Young Heart Heroes. These awards celebrate young fundraisers, advocates and heart patients aged 18 and under and those who’ve shown incredible courage and bravery to step in and attempt to save a person’s life from cardiac arrest.

This year, our two new ambassadors Becky and Ellie Downie will be joining us at the awards. The two Olympic gymnasts sadly lost their 24-year-old brother Josh, to a sudden cardiac arrest in 2021 while he was playing cricket. CPR was attempted before he was taken to hospital but nothing could be done to save him.
They later found out he had undiagnosed a genetic condition, arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy, that the gymnast sisters are continually being monitored for.
Becky and Ellie said: “We are so passionate about supporting the BHF and know there is more research that needs to be done, which could prevent others from losing their loved ones.”
“Every fundraiser, volunteer and researcher are an essential part in making this happen and the BHF’s Heart Hero Awards celebrates those who have made a difference to those affected by heart conditions.”
Nominations for Fundraising Hero, Outstanding Contribution, BHF Sustainability Partner and BHF Corporate Partner close on 30th April 2023. Entries for CPR Hero and Young Heart Hero are open all year round.
If you know of someone who has taken on an inspiring challenge to raise funds for us, saved the life of a loved one or defied all odds in the face of heart and circulatory disease, we want to hear about them.
