“Today, over seven million people are living in the UK with cardiovascular disease. Martin joins a dedicated team of staff and volunteers who are determined to win the fight against a disease that damages the lives of far too many people.”

BHF is the UK’s leading independent funder of cardiovascular research, in the past year the charity invested £115 million in research alone. The charity launched its new strategy in August and says the key to saving more lives is to increase investment in research and turning research discoveries into life-saving medical treatments. The charity has pledged to reduce premature deaths from cardiovascular disease by 25% by 2025.
