Our shops work from a pricing guide that takes into account the quality and condition of different items. Donated items are carefully examined and then priced according to the guide to ensure that the price charged is fair and consistent across all our shops. Items are generously donated to us and we owe it to our donors to maximise the amount of money raised from their donations to fund our life saving heart research.
Items do not need to be pristine but we are only able to collect items which are in good, re-saleable condition. Items which are generously donated to us are sold to raise funds for our life saving heart research. Unfortunately we are not able to collect items which are not in a saleable condition as would incur costs to the charity for collection and disposal.
When your local shop has distributed bags they will be clearly marked with the date our driver will return to collect them. Occasionally a collection is missed due to human error or because the donation was not visible when the van driver returned. If this does happen please call your local shop and we will be happy to send out a van driver to collect your donation at the earliest opportunity.
Items which are generously donated to us are sold in our shops to raise money to fund life saving heart research. As such we are only able to collect items which are re-saleable otherwise the charity will incur a cost for collection and disposal. There are some items which we are unable to sell by law, such as upholstery without fire labels, and others which we can’t guarantee are safe such as baby equipment. We don’t have prior sight of collections which are booked by phone therefore our van drivers have discretion to decline an item if they believe that it does not comply with legislation, fall within our policy guidelines or seem to be in saleable condition.
There is a cost for every delivery and collection we make. We pay for the cost of picking up a donation as we raise money when that item is sold. By funding the delivery charge we would further reduce the amount that goes towards our life saving heart research. Delivery charges vary according to distance from the shop but we try to make sure that any fee is reasonable.
