Event volunteering

Volunteers at the London Marathon cheering on runners

Running, trekking, cycling and swimming events happen up and down the country in support of our life saving research.

Our volunteers play a crucial role in making these events happen.

Join us during Volunteers Week on 1-7 June to take part in a season of fantastic fundraising.

Volunteers at events help get the participants across the finish line, get the community cheering and create a fantastic day for everyone involved.

Whether you have hours or days to give, we have a role for you:

  • Handing out medals
  • Being part of a cheer squad
  • Route marshalling
  • Handing out essential refreshments
  • Important on the day administration
  • Pre-event promotion.

A volunteer at an event

"It's completely different to the day job – I get to take my mind to a different place and re-tune…"

"And there's something lovely about being the face people see when they've finished a tough event."
