After sadly losing her father in January 2020 from heart failure, Harvinder has been very active in supporting the BHF through volunteering opportunities and raising awareness of defibrillators.
Harvinder has been supporting our National Defibrillator Network - The Circuit campaign on social media and in organisations and businesses. She tells us, “I decided to volunteer for the BHF because they’ve helped me immensely in the past to raise awareness about the importance of defibrillators.”
Harvinder continues, “Volunteering at the Yorkshire Three Peaks event is a thank you from me to the BHF for all the support they’ve given me these last few years and give a little back.”
As the defibrillator used on her father was broken, Harvinder is taking great comfort knowing that she is helping other people to be more aware and ensure their defibrillators are working and registered on The Circuit. She is thankful to the BHF for helping her to raise awareness of the importance of defibrillators.
Harvinder reflects on how much of a great day she had meeting and cheering on the participants climbing the peaks. She says, “It was nice to motivate them and remind them of how the money they’ve raised will help make a difference.”
Volunteering at the Yorkshire 3 Peaks also allowed Harvinder to meet others who share a close connection to the work of the BHF. Harvinder tells us, “I met people who told me stories of their loved ones that they had lost, their own heart conditions and how the BHF has supported them.”
Reflecting on the day, Harvinder adds, “I would certainly recommend the experience to my family and friends. It felt like we were all part of one big community.”
Volunteer Manager, Tracey Crich (pictured above with Harvinder), also spent the day at the Yorkshire 3 Peaks, tells us about the fabulous contribution Harvinder made to the day, “Harvi was eager to do whatever we asked of her even though it meant changing her planned activity to cover a volunteer role at a hillside checkpoint – in the rain. Nevertheless, she came back with a huge smile on her face and then offered to give out medals and water at the finish line. A big thank you to Harvi and all our volunteers who supported us at the Yorkshire 3 Peaks, despite the rain we all kept cheery and had a great day!”
