Fundraising - Frequently asked questions
Do you have some questions about fundraising for an event you're taking part in? Here are some of our answers to help you out.
1. How is the money I raise for the BHF spent?
Our vision is a world without heart and circulatory diseases. A world without heartbreak. We spend 76p of every £1 raised on life saving research, translating to spending over £100 million into research projects a year. Read more about what we do.
2. How much of the money I raise on JustGiving goes to the BHF?
At least 95% of the money you raise on JustGiving goes directly to the BHF.
3. What is Gift Aid and how do I claim it?
Gift Aid is a scheme that allows charities to reclaim tax on a donation made by a UK taxpayer, which means your donation will be worth 25% more to us at no extra cost to you. Read more about Gift Aid and how to claim it.
4. How long after my event can I continue fundraising for?
Your JustGiving page will stay open for 3 months after your event, so please do continue fundraising during this time. If you wish to continue fundraising after 3 months, you are able to extend the time via the JustGiving website.
5. How can I pay in my sponsorship money?
Pay in your money online, over the phone or by post.
6. I already have my own place in an event, can I still fundraise for the BHF?
Absolutely! All you need to do is head over to the BHF JustGiving page and click "Fundraise for us".
7. How much of my registration fee goes towards putting on the event?
For events organised solely by the BHF, your registration fee only covers the cost of running the event. This is why we do ask you to fundraise if you can.
8. What resources do you have to help me fundraise?
We've got plenty of new fundraising resources and materials that we hope will help you with your fundraising.
9. Where can I download a sponsorship form?
You can find our sponsorship form on our fundraising resources page, or you can download a form.
10. How do I make sure my fundraising is legal?
Fundraising should be fun, but it's important for it to be safe and legal for everyone involved. Read more about keeping it this way.
