What is Pulse?

Pulse is a collective of visionaries driving BHF’s vital work forward. As individuals, trusts, foundations and corporate organisations, their generosity has seen over £40 million donated to BHF.

Thanks to their passion and conviction, we are funding breakthroughs that seemed like science fiction when BHF was founded over six decades ago.

In addition to making research discoveries possible, Pulse members have helped fuel the information and support provided to people at all stages of diagnosis, treatment and care.

Pulse's impact

Since BHF was established in 1961, the annual number of deaths from heart and circulatory disease in the UK has fallen from 320,000 to 170,000. That’s almost half.

Pulse members have made a vital contribution to the development of new treatments for heart and circulatory diseases. Their support means we can strive towards transformational breakthroughs, and even cures, while providing essential support today.

Recognising Pulse

To celebrate Pulse, BHF has unveiled a new recognition wall at our London head office called ‘Heartbeat Constellations’. The wall features a bespoke digital artwork created from each Pulse member.

Through the power of technology, the wall captures and converts the ‘heartbeat signature’ of each Pulse member with unique constellations of light and colour.

The wall was launched at the BHF office in London in October 2024. The event saw Pulse members welcomed to an immersive dining ‘laboratory’ curated and presented by acclaimed chef Jozef Youssef. Guests were taken on a culinary journey through key moments in BHF’s past, present and future, with the menu taking inspiration from a range of extraordinary achievements that BHF supporters have helped make possible.
