Victoria Park to Southend-on-Sea
Starting in Victoria Park, Hackney - you'll soon leave the hustle of London behind hitting quieter country roads. Let the picturesque villages and beautiful countryside of Essex surprise you as you wind your way through the quiet lanes onto the idyllic gardens of Priory Park - where refreshments, live music and a sports massage will be on hand to welcome you.
Children must be over the age of 14 years old to take part in this event. Riders under 16 must be accompanied by an adult rider (over 18) at all times.
Your entry fee covers the cost of organising the event. It's the money you raise that powers our life saving research.

Getting to the start
Please access Victoria Park by Crown Gate, off Ford Road along the South of the park - opposite the Corwn Pub (E3 5SN).
Bike Events charter trains
For £13.00 per person, two Bike Events charter trains will run in the morning from Southend Victoria to get you to the start (Stratford station) for an 08:00 start. The trains will also call at Hockley, Rochford and Rayleigh. Only tickets sold by Bike Events will be valid on the two special charter services; Greater Anglia season tickets won't be valid.
There will be signs to the start site from Stratford station.
Train times will be announced nearer the date, with further details in the Ride Guide sent as part of each registration pack.

The start in close to the A102 - but be aware that parking is extremely limited. Please check before travelling.
Getting from the finish
There is no event specific transport after the ride. Trains run from Stratford to London Liverpool Street every 20 minutes.
There is parking available at Priory Park, but please be aware that this is limited so please check for alternatives before travelling.

Get fit for your challenge
This a long distance bike ride, so you'll need to have a good level of fitness to take part. Plan your training with expert tips and advice in our cycling training zone.
In order to help you get ready for the big day, we've teamed up with British Cycling to offer participants of this year's London to Southend Bike Ride a range of free training rides. A fully trained ride leader will accompany you and a group of fellow participants on a ride to help you build up for the event. They'll also give lots of advice and helpful tips as well as answer any questions you may have - to ensure you're fully prepared to take on your challenge.
There are four rides on offer, with places strictly limited - sign up today to avoid disappointment:

Make sure you have the right kit
Take a look at our recommended cycling kit list for what to wear on the day and what to bring with you. Prepare for changeable weather. Bring a puncture kit and inner tube - and don't forget your helmet!
You'll receive your participant number in the post just before the event.

Your family and friends could be part of the action as well. Why not ask them to take part with you, or they could come and help on the day? Volunteers are vital in making our events a success.

You will be issued a start time in your welcome pack. These are for guidance only - if you wish to start at a different time, please turn up at the time you desire. There is nothing you need to do beforehand.
Your friends and family are very welcome to join in the cheering at the start and finish line, as well as along the route - but we do ask that you don't bring dogs with you.
All riders will be given a route map on the day, containing the emergency medical, mechanic and route control telephone numbers.
The event is fully signed and supported with first aid, marshals and mechanics. Water will be available at the start and finish, and en route.
The route is 52 miles long, with an optional extension via Shoeburyness that will increase the distance to 65 miles. There is a total of 1,750 ft. of climbing along the route.
