Transitioning to Cardiovascular Research: Fellowship opportunities
What is the scheme for?
To support talented researchers from non-cardiovascular backgrounds, BHF is opening the early career discovery research fellowship to applicants looking to transition into cardiovascular research.
Eligible applicants can apply for the following fellowship scheme:
Entry requirements
- Post-doctoral scientists who have a research background in a non-cardiovascular discipline, and a clear intention to transition into cardiovascular research.
- Applicants should have a strong support network in place to aid their transition into cardiovascular research. Details of this support should be included in letters from academic advisors, mentors and collaborators.
- Applicants must have an established UK academic host institution and an eligible academic advisor(s) prior to applying.
- Existing entry requirements for each fellowship scheme apply.
Application information
- All sections of the online application form must be completed, as outlined on the individual fellowship scheme pages.
- Applicants must indicate they are entering cardiovascular research from an alternative discipline within the application form. They must also provide the following details:
o a summary of research experience in their current field, including any relevant outputs
o a statement explaining their motivation to transition to cardiovascular research and how the fellowship will support this.
