Your challenge 

Cover 24 miles and 5,000 feet of climbing, face rocky terrain, steep climbs and push yourself to the limit. You'll trek through the heart of some of the most majestic scenery in the country, as you tackle some of the most demanding and rugged peaks in England.

The first peak, Pen-y-Ghent (694m/2277ft), provides great views of the peaks to come. As you walk towards Whernside (736m/2415ft), you'll take in the grandeur of Ribblehead Viaduct and then onto Ingleborough (723m 2372ft) for your final ascent.

Standard price 

Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge   £35

You must be 16 years old to take part, and under-18's must be accompanied by an adult. Because of the testing nature of the trek we would recommend that you train properly for this challenge and why not take part with a friend or as part of a team. £1 of your registration fee will go directly to the National Parks to assist with the resurfacing of the paths. We highly recommend the use of walking poles throughout the challenge.

Your entry fee covers the cost of organising the event. It's the money you raise that powers our life saving research. Previous Champions have aimed to raise £300 to take on this event to help beat heartbreak forever.


Your Yorkshire Three Peaks entry includes

  • A map of the route - we also recommend getting an OS map (OL2 is the correct one)

The start and finish


Pavilion Playing Fields, Station Road, Horton-in Ribblesdale, Near Settle, North Yorkshire, BD24 0HH


From Settle direction, upon reaching Horton in Ribblesdale continue past The Crown Hotel and follow the BHF Yellow Car Parking Signs turning right in to the car park. 

From Ingleborough direction continue along the B6479 through Selside and follow the BHF Yellow Car Parking Signs turning left in to the car park.


We have organised for free parking on Saturday (from 5.15am) at a field located near the Pavilion Playing Field 

Please keep noise to a minimum when walking through the village in the early morning.

Where possible, please car-share.

Get the right gear

Always wear clothing appropriate for outdoor hiking and changeable conditions – waterproof top and trousers, spare socks, warm layers (including hat and gloves) and sturdy walking boots - no trainers please. Please bring along your mobile phone (although there is limited signal), a power bank and spare food and drink. We recommend you use walking poles and buy the OL2 OS walking map. 

It is essential that you have all of the recommended equipment. Participants without adequate equipment may not be allowed to take part.

What you can expect on the big day

 Event finishes

The event starts and finishes in the lovely peaceful village of Horton in Ribblesdale so please be mindful of the residents when arriving at the venue and walking though the village early in the morning. You will pick your participant number up on the day of the event where there will be a kit check undertaken. Please ensure you have all of the recommended kit before setting off. 

Please use the BHF sign posted car park in Horton-in-Ribblesdale and not park in residential areas. This event starts very early in the morning please respect local residents and keep the noise to a minimum when parking and walking through the village. 

Spectators are welcome to come along and cheer you over the finish line. Dogs can be part of the cheer squad or join you on the challenge as long as they are kept on a lead and fit for the event. 

A BHF route map will be available online to download and provided at the start of the event, please familiarise yourself with the checkpoints and timings beforehand. We highly recommend you purchase an OL2 map to navigate yourselves around this challenge. We also advise that you download the National Parks' Three Peaks App.

Marshals will be located along the route and on each peak and you will be supplied with an emergency contact number on the day. This number will be in operation for the duration of the event and should only be called in case of emergency. Medics will be present at the event.

Only mobile phone services from Vodafone and EE cover this area and these will be the only ones that will work on the day. 

Changing facilities in a marquee are available and disabled access toilets are located at the start/finish. There are also toilets at Ribblehead (10 miles) and Philpin Lane (17 miles) checkpoints.

It is important that you keep your body fed and hydrated. We supply a complimentary hot drink and hot meal at the finish line. Water refilling points will also be available at checkpoints at Birkworth, Ribblehead and Philpin Lane. There will be a snack point at Ribblehead Viaduct (10 miles) and there is a small snack bar at Philpin Lane where snacks and drinks can be purchased.

The cut off at Philpin Lane checkpoint is 14:30, if you have not reached this point by this time you will be collected and driven to the finish line. This cut off time is in place for your safety.
