We’re appealing for students with some spare time to join the fight against heart disease and, in return, learn new valuable skills and gain work experience to enhance their employability.
Research from the National Union of Students showed that 66% of students began volunteering to 'develop skills'.
Our volunteering positions allow each one of our volunteers to grow and develop transferable skills to help build their CV.
In the last academic year we have awarded over 1,000 NVQs in England and Wales and we are looking to increase that in 2015. Our volunteers are a range of ages and from varied backgrounds. It is a great way to make friends, learn life skills and become part of a team.
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award
Our shops also work in partnership with The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) as an Approved Activity Provider (AAP). This means that young people can now use their time volunteering in our shops to count towards their Bronze, Silver or Gold DofE Award.
We currently have over 750 students working towards their DofE Awards in our shops and stores across the country.
Volunteer with us
As well as developing the necessary skills to help you secure your desired career, by volunteering with us you will be helping in the fight against heart disease.
Volunteering for just half a day a month could fund one of our young scientists to carry out essential research for a whole hour.
