We are pleased to announce that we are one of four benefitting charities of leading engineering solutions provider, Costain’s 150 Year Challenge.

The challenge, which begins in January 2015, is to mark the company’s 150 year anniversary and will call upon employees to raise £1 million through a multitude of fundraising events throughout the year.

The company is in the process of setting up a charitable foundation to which the company will make an initial donation to launch the campaign. The campaign will raise funds for four national charities, including ourselves, Macmillan Cancer SupportThe Princes Trust and Samaritans. Each charity will benefit equally from the fundraising.

Catherine Warbrick, Director for Corporate Responsibility at Costain, said: “Each of the charities’ work resonates with many of the initiatives Costain is currently involved with, whether it’s trying to help young people into work or ensuring and improving the wellbeing, both mentally and physically, of its employees and the communities it serves.

“Our aim is to raise £1million by the end of 2015 and we’re looking for everyone in the company to get involved. All of us at some point, either personally or through someone we know, has benefited from the great work these charities do. We have a fantastic track record of imaginative and energetic fundraising and this new challenge will help even more people get involved and share in the success of their colleagues.”

Andrew Wyllie, Costain’s Chief Executive, said: “Costain Cares has already delivered tangible, long-term benefits to our business as well as the communities in which we operate. With this new foundation, our 150 year history, and the ongoing dedication of our people, we can really make a difference and deliver our full potential, for the benefit of society as well as the company.”
