We are delighted to announce that our No Time to Wait appeal has two new supporters - Olympians Lynn Davies CBE and Jamie Baulch.

More about No Time to Wait

The appeal has been running for nearly a year now, but with nine out of ten people dying from a cardiac arrest outside of hospital there is still more to be done. We are working in partnership with the Welsh Ambulance Services Trust to train people in emergency life saving support skills and to place more life saving defibrillators (AEDs) in locations across Wales.

Lynn Davies CBE, president of the UK Athletics Association, is an Olympic gold medallist and is supporting the appeal because his brother-in-law, John Griffiths, collapsed and died of a cardiac arrest in 1995 at the age of just 47.

Lynn said: “Despite being extremely fit, John had a viral infection at the time that brought on this fatal cardiac arrest. If those around him had the knowledge of how to administer emergency life saving treatment, and defibrillators had been available in local communities, then John may have survived.”

We need to train more people in emergency life support skills and make more defibrillators available throughout Wales.

Jamie Baulch, a British sprint athlete and gold, silver and bronze medallist, is also lending his support to the Appeal.

Jamie said “I support this appeal as it not only delivers life saving skills to local communities but by having a co-ordinated approach and working with the Welsh Ambulance Service, members of the public can be directed to their nearest defibrillator in emergency situations.”

Catherine Campbell, our Fundraising and Volunteer Manager for South East Wales added “Currently only around 1 in 10 people survive an out of hospital cardiac arrest.

“We need to train more people in emergency life support skills and make more defibrillators available locally throughout Wales. This will mean the chances of resuscitating someone from a cardiac arrest should be greatly improved.”
