Springboard Award for Biomedical Researchers

A partnership funding scheme for non-clinical cardiovascular scientists at the beginning of their first permanent academic post, designed to help launch their independent research careers.

The Springboard Award will fund up to £100,000 over the course of 2 years towards research costs for established non-clinical academics who have not yet obtained significant amounts of external funding (up to £75,000 per year).

In addition, awardees will have access to the Academy of Medical Sciences' mentoring and professional development programmes in order to enhance their standing as an independent investigator.

Applicants should be within 3 years of their appointment to their first salaried position and have sufficient time remaining in post to complete the proposed Springboard project. Up to 3 applications are invited from eligible higher education institutions for each funding round (1 round per year).

Further details and application forms can be obtained from The Academy of Medical Sciences.

The 2018 call for applications is now open.
