A charity match is to be held at the grounds of Cheltenham Town FC and will see sides managed by TV-stars Katie Price and Kerry Katona.
A host of celebrities will appear at a star-studded charity football match to raise funds for the BHF's life saving research. Reality-TV royalty Katie Price and Kerry Katona will manage the sides at the LCI Rail Stadium, the home of Cheltenham Town FC, on Sunday March 25.
The celebrity showdown will see the likes of Shayne Ward, Dean Gaffney, Jake Wood, Calum Best and Love Island star Chris Hughes lace up their football boots for the contest. Pop stars Sam Bailey, MC Harvey and Blue members Lee Ryan and Simon Webbe are also set to be in action.
The stars will descend on Cheltenham to raise vital funds for the BHF, which is one of the football club’s official charities for this season. The charity is close to Cheltenham FC’s heart, after club manager Gary Johnson underwent triple bypass surgery in March last year.
Proceeds will go towards the charity’s research into heart and circulatory disease, which is responsible for around 160,000 deaths each year – the equivalent of one death every three minutes.
The match, organised by Sellebrity Soccer, is also supporting Midlands Air Ambulance, after Cheltenham resident Ben Lewis was seriously injured in a car accident.
Gary Johnson, Cheltenham Town FC Manager, said: “It is fantastic that we can host this celebrity charity match at the LCI Rail Stadium for these two amazing causes. It is our way of giving something back to the local community and to help the estimated seven million people living with heart and circulatory disease in the UK.”
Amanda Bringans, Director of Fundraising at the British Heart Foundation, said: “For Cheltenham FC to organise this charity football match for us is amazing and will help us fund research that has broken new ground, revolutionised treatments and transformed the lives of millions of people in the UK.
“I would like to thank everyone involved, including all the celebrities who are taking time out of their schedules to take part in the match, so that we can one day stop heart disease in its tracks.”
