Health and fitness company Speedflex is holding a UK-wide fitness fundraising event to raise funds for us.
On 25 September Speedflex centres in Newcastle, City of London, Leeds, Surrey and Aberdeenshire will start the first of 24 back-to-back, 45 minute high intensity Speedflex sessions. The aim is to burn as many calories as possible to be crowned the champion.
As well as the general public being invited to take part, BHF Researchers and Cardiac Teams from Newcastle and Leeds will be joining in the challenge.
Professor Ioakim Spyridopoulos, from the Institute of Genetic Medicine at Newcastle University said “This is a great opportunity to get the heart pumping and raise vital funds for more research."
The Speedflex centres are offering free inductions to the training concept as well as two weeks of free training to prepare for the event.
Speedflex Chairman Graham Wylie says, "We know that Speedflex training is an incredibly great cardiovascular workout, but it’s also a very safe one, that’s why we decided to partner with and support the British Heart Foundation."
Anyone who wants to get involved will be asked to raise a minimum of £50 in sponsorship to support the charity. The target for each centre is to try and burn at least 100,000 calories, equal to more than 4,100 calories every hour.
If you want to take part contact your local your local Speedflex centre or pop along and sign up.
